This traditional Scottish ale gained its unique name during the 1800’s when it was referred to the price of ale per barrel. The Scottish 70 is our lightest beer at Blue Stallion Brewing Co and would have cost 70 shillings back in the mid 19th century, hence the name “70 Shilling”. We only use a small amount of British hops in this beer, so it has a distinct malty sweetness as well as a slight caramel taste. This particular beer has a deep amber color and gives off a light and fruity aroma. This beer is fermented at slightly cooler temperatures to simulate the typical Scottish brewing techniques.
